Happy Spring Lovelies! The weather has been just amazing in Durban – in fact we went from jackets and stockings to short sleeves and mini skirts in no time! I am not complaining though, I am a lover of blue skies, sunny days and long walks on the beach. 🙂
OK, so before I get to carried away with the change of season , lets talk about one of my most favorite items in my wardrobe RIGHT NOW!
Remember those days, when you looked at ballerinas and just wanted to be one so you could wear those cute little outfits (well I did, all the time). For years, the tulle was the type of material that was specifically used for ballet clothing, ball gown and wedding dresses. The reason I love fashion is because just like me – fashion believes that ‘change is good’. Tulle netting has come a long way and fashion designers have really hit it right with all various types of Tulle items, but more specifically the Tulle Skirt.
There are so many variations of the tulle skirt and each type worn so differently. I love when a specific item can look different every time it’s matched with another item and that’s why I love my tulle skirt so much.I opted for a 7/8 length, plain black high waisted tulle skirt. The higher waist and extra length assists in making me look taller (short girl problems I tell you). The skirt is a straight cut with an excessive amount of tulle netting layered on top of the under skirt.
HOW TO PULL OFF A TULLE SKIRT:
Even though these skirts are quite popular, it was extremely difficult finding the perfect one. I definitely will be on the hunt for more but lets talk about how much wear you can get from one style. I chose a black tulle skirt with 7/8 length because black can be worn with just about anything and the length is versatile to pull off during the day or night.
- THE CASUAL GIRL: As you can see from my recent Instagram posts – this happens to be my favorite look. Match your tulle skirt with an iconic tee (opt for a bold saying or logo on the tee that matches the colour of the skirt), pair this with heels/flats or sneakers dependent on your height and the type of Tulle skirt you have chosen. Lastly, accessorize with trendy glasses and a sling bag. If you have a Sunday brunch coming up with your squad or just looking for weekend wear inspiration, then ‘The Casual Girl’ is your go-to outfit.
- THE SLEEK CHICK: If you opting for a more trendy and edgy look that creates more of a statement then ‘The Sleek Chick’ is for you! Match your tulle skirt with a fitted velvet bodysuit , paired with closed pointy stilettos and layered with a denim/leather jacket. You will be turning heads where ever you go! 😉
- THE EVENING QUEEN: Match your tulle skirt with a lace crop top and high platform heels, pair this outfit with diamond jewelry & a clutch bag for a little touch of sparkle in the night. I would opt for this classy look for a romantic dinner date or a special event.
I hope you guys enjoyed this blog as much as I enjoyed compiling it for you. I would love to know what you think of the Tulle Skirt and which look you would opt for. Leave your comments below. Till next time… Ciao 🙂
